Happy 63rd birthday to 11-time NBA All-Star, 1992-93 MVP, gold medal winner from the 1992 Olympic Dream Team and one of the greatest characters in NBA history, Charles Barkley!
“The Round Mound of Rebound,” was selected fifth-overall in the 1984 NBA Draft out of Auburn by the Philadelphia 76ers, and became one of the best players of his generation, if not all-time. Despite never winning the NBA Finals, he averaged 22.1 points, 11.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists-per-game over his 16-year career. He also had one of the most iconic quotes from the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
When asked if he knew anything about Team USA’s upcoming opponent Angola, he simply said “I don’t know anything about Angola, but Angola’s in trouble.”
Now, Barkley is a mainstay in NBA coverage as part of the show “Inside the NBA,” where he trades barbs and engages in hijinks with Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Barkley racked up 20 regular-season triple-doubles in his decorated career. How many of the players with at least 20 regular-season triple-doubles can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
