The Philadelphia 76ers are undergoing a major change in their front office. They fired the president of basketball operations, Daryl Morey , and will likely be led by Bob Myers during the NBA draft. The major position that needs to be addressed is PF, as finding a good rebounder next to Joel Embiid would be huge.
Morez Johnson is an athletic power forward with great defensive and rebounding skills. He would provide Philadelphia with an immediate plug-in starter at PF, something they desperately need. The fit next to Embiid is almost perfect, finally giving them another rebounder in the lineup. He has proven to be a winner at Michigan, and bringing that mentality to the 76ers could be a huge advantage.
Dailyn Swain would fill the Kelly Oubre role on the 76ers, giving them someone who can get downhill and attack the rim. He can rebound and has upside on the defensive end of the floor due to his great measurables. This would be an excellent move if moving on from Oubre in free agency, keeping both around wouldn’t make much sense.
Cameron Carr is the exception when it comes to this draft and mainly targets big wings and forwards. He is an athletic SG/SF who stands at just 6’5. He can score from anywhere on the court, attacking the rim at a high level and shooting 37% from three. Carr has been amazing in the lead-up to the NBA draft, so he may jump out of the 76ers range.
Allen Graves is another player who could immediately come in and start at the PF position. He may be an even better fit next to Embiid than anyone else due to his shooting ability. On top of his great rebounding and defense, he shot 41% from three. He’s currently projected to go late in the first round, and should be there at 22 for Philadelphia.
The 76ers need to nail this draft pick. They received the 22nd pick in the draft from the Jared McCain trade, a move that was heavily criticized by fans. The team has a chance to redeem itself if it lands one of these key players. Adding an instant impact player would add a jolt of energy and depth to this roster.
