Former Washington Wizards guard John Wall recently confirmed his retirement from the NBA. And in the wake of the announcement, former backcourt partner Bradley Beal gave Wall his much-deserved flowers.
Wall and Beal were Washington Wizards teammates for eight years, leading the team to numerous playoff appearances. And the latter reflected on their time together by sharing a heartfelt message on social media last night.
“Congratulations to my brother @JohnWall on retiring from the NBA. Family 4L and one of the most elite, dominant, and game-changing figures the league has ever seen,” Beal posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and pushing me to be the best I can be. There is no BB without Dub! Thank you, brother! Enjoy the next chapter! #DCbackcourt!” he concluded.
John Wall spent the first 10 years of his NBA career with the Washington Wizards, who selected him with the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. It was with them that Wall had his peak years, which include five NBA All-Star selections, one All-NBA selection, and one NBA All-Defensive Team selection.
After playing for Washington, Wall had stops with the Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Clippers. Across 647 career games, he averaged 18.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.9 assists, and 1.6 steals on 43.0 percent shooting from the field.
“One of our franchise all-time greats. The definition of an era. A lasting legacy. A forever Wizard. Congratulations on your retirement, @JohnWall,” the Washington Wizards posted on X (formerly known as Twitter).
