The Oklahoma City Thunder still appear to be the deepest and most talented team in the NBA, coming off last year’s Finals win.
The Thunder continue to be led by point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who remains firmly in the conversation for a second straight MVP award thanks to his elite play.
Gilgeous-Alexander thrives because of his ability to score efficiently from all three levels, control the pace of the game and elevate teammates with his court vision. His blend of craft, footwork and shot-making makes him nearly impossible to defend, while his defensive instincts add balance to his overall impact.
The 27-year-old has posted 31.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 54.8% from the field and 41.0% from beyond the arc through 36 contests.
Oklahoma City is heading into Wednesday’s matchup against the Utah Jazz looking to get back on track after two consecutive losses.
However, the team may be shorthanded after the Thunder announced their official injury report.
Gilgeous-Alexander was added with a right knee injury, receiving a questionable designation. If he is unable to suit up, it would mark just his second missed game of the season.

The timing of Gilgeous-Alexander’s questionable status is especially frustrating for Oklahoma City. Even a short absence would be a setback for a team so heavily reliant on his shot creation and two-way presence.
The Thunder will continue to monitor his knee closely leading up to Wednesday’s tipoff, with his availability likely coming down to how he responds in pregame work.
Since entering the league as the 11th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Gilgeous-Alexander has steadily established himself as one of the league’s best players.
After an impressive rookie season in Los Angeles with the Clippers, he emerged as the centerpiece of the Thunder’s rebuild, developing into an All-NBA talent.
His accolades now include three All-Star selections, three All-NBA honors and last season’s MVP, cementing his status as one of the league’s elite guards and the driving force behind Oklahoma City’s return to title contention.
