Thunder Reportedly 'Explored' Trading Tre Mann Before the Season Began
USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma City is likely to be active in the trade market, and rumors are already starting to swirl.

The team has a handful of prospects that will likely draw interest from other teams around the league. Third-year guard Tre Mann, who has fallen out of the rotation this season, is certainly a candidate who fits the bill. It was reported on Friday that the Thunder supposedly shopped Tre Mann this off-season.

In Jake Fischer’s report, he noted “OKC explored trading young guard Tre Mann prior to the season, sources said. Come February, opposing front offices will surely call Oklahoma City about the trade prospects of Josh Giddey as well, depending on the outcome of the NBA’s investigation.”

There are multiple players who could be involved in upcoming trade talks, but it seems like Mann is the only one who has already been discussed.

It would make sense, as his value increased after both Summer League sessions. Mann displayed consistency and unbelievable scoring abilities while leading the Thunder to victory. He had highlight reel dunks and took care of the ball running the show.

The Thunder ultimately elected to keep him on the roster, and he won the battle for the last roster spot on the team. Mann’s talent is undeniable, but he hasn’t gotten a chance to showcase it on the Thunder’s loaded young roster. The team has an abundance of guards and Mann has been the odd one out so far. In limited minutes, however, he has looked good — which could prompt a team to take a flier.

In eight games, Mann is averaging 4.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 10 minutes. He's shooting 50% from the floor and 38.5% from 3-point range. Just over a week ago in Houston, Mann was given an opportunity for extended minutes and made the most of it, adding 10 points and four assists in 24 minutes.

If given a fresh start, he could flourish.
