Derrick Rose will officially be honored by the Chicago Bulls during the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season. Rose, now 36 years old, one full season removed from his playing career, received special news on Thursday.

Rose, who was the No. 1 overall pick by the Bulls in the 2008 NBA draft, played the first seven seasons of his career with the Bulls. He won the NBA MVP award in 2011, helping lead his team to the playoffs in five of his seven seasons played in Chicago.

Despite playing for five other NBA teams throughout his 15-year p laying-career, Rose will be honored by his original team.

Derrick Rose To Be Honored by Bulls

During a postgame ceremony, following the Bulls game on Jan. 24, 2026 against the Boston Celtics, the Bulls will retire Rose's No. 1 jersey, raising it into the rafters to hang alongside the four other Bulls' jerseys that already live there.

Rose will join Michael Jordan (23), Scottie Pippen (33), Jerry Sloan (4), and Bob Love (10) as the only jerseys ever retired by the Bulls franchise.

The January home-game has already seen an astounding rise in ticket prices since the announcement, breaking a Bulls franchise record in the process.

As per @TickPick on X, this is currently the highest get-in ticket price for a Bulls home-game of all-time. As of Thursday afternoon, the current get-in price is $332.

The price prior to the Rose announcement was reportedly $147. Following the news, ticket prices have reportedly risen by 126% to the current price of $332.

Rose won the Rookie of the Year award while playing for the Bulls in 2008 and was a three-time All-Star during his seven seasons with the team. He was also named to the All-NBA First-Team in 2011.

Rose had a productive tenure with the Bulls, averaging 19.7 points, 6.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game. Rose's career was derailed by injury, however, missing the entire 2012-13 NBA season after tearing his ACL in his left knee.

The remainder of his career would be impacted by injuries, as he continued to battle knee issues, ankle injuries, as well as a broken bone in his face. In the final seven seasons of his career, he wouldn't exceed 51 games played in a single season.

The jersey retirement game is currently scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026 and will be played inside the United Center, the home of the Bulls.
