Tim Hardaway Jr. signs with the Heat on a 1 year, $6.5 million deal as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. The veteran finally comes to Miami in a long, distinguished NBA career. Hardaway Jr. is a “legacy” with the team. His father, Tim Hardaway Sr. has his jersey hung in the rafters at the Kaseya Center.
Hardaway Sr. said on the OG Show with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller that his son will not be wearing his #10 jersey (see show below at the 56:50 mark.) Legendary coach and broadcaster Dr. Jack Ramsey was the color analyst for the Heat during Hardaway Sr.’s time there. He would say, “This away! That away! Hardaway!” when Tim would have a big night.
Now, whoever is the new Heat public address announcer (Michael Biamonte retired at the end of the season), radio announcer Jason Jackson and longtime TV play-by-play Eric Reid can refresh the call. Hardaway will be a veteran three-point shooting threat for the team to help Giannis and Bam.
Hardaway is still a productive NBA player. Last season for the Denver Nuggets, he averaged 13.5 points per game and shot 40% from three-point range. He was third in the voting for sixth man of the year. Hardaway had a 28 point game against the Thunder last season. He made eight three-point shots out of 12. He also played in 80 games last season.
