The Minnesota Timberwolves floor remains high in the Western Conference as long as shooting guard Anthony Edwards stays healthy and remains on the court.

Edwards, now in his sixth season in Minnesota since being drafted first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, has continued to rise into the ranks of the game’s most elite players.

The 24‑year‑old superstar has already experienced success in the NBA playoffs, reaching back‑to‑back Western Conference Finals, determined to bring an NBA championship back to the city.

Along the way, he has built quite an accomplished body of work as a three‑time All‑Star and two‑time All‑NBA selection.

Edwards’ ability to attack the rim make him one of the league’s most dangerous scorers in transition. He has steadily improved his perimeter shooting, forcing defenses to respect him beyond the arc, while his strength and athleticism allow him to finish through contact.

Edwards also thrives in clutch moments, embracing the responsibility of being Minnesota’s go‑to option late in games. Combined with his defensive versatility and leadership presence, he has become the kind of player who elevates the Timberwolves’ ceiling every time he takes the court.

Throughout much of January, Edwards has frequently been listed on the Timberwolves injury report with right foot injury maintenance. The issue has often given him a questionable designation as he attempts to manage it and play through it, though until now it had not forced him to miss time.

His performance remained unaffected, but the setback has finally sidelined him. Minnesota announced its injury report for Tuesday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks, ruling Edwards out with right foot injury maintenance.

With Edwards unavailable, his next chance to suit up will be Friday on the road against the Houston Rockets. His absence leaves a significant void, as he has continued to play at an elite level this season.

Through 33 appearances, Edwards has averaged 28.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting an efficient 50.0% from the field and 40.9% from 3‑point range.

The Timberwolves will need others to step up in his absence, but Edwards’ return will be essential if Minnesota hopes to sustain its push toward the top of the Western Conference.
