Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards apologizes for 'hurtful' homophobic remarks made on Instagram video

Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards came under fire after he made homophobic slurs in a video posted to his Instagram account over the weekend.

On Sunday, Edwards posted an apology on Twitter.

In the video, Edwards makes anti-gay remarks while recording a group of men, adding, "look at what the world done came to."

Edwards has since deleted the video, but it's still making the rounds through social media regardless.

The situation isn't a good look for Edwards, who looks like he's on his way to becoming the Timberwolves' franchise player.

The 21-year-old averaged 21.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals last season for Minnesota.

Edwards helped lead the Timberwolves to the postseason for only the second time in 18 years, though they fell in the opening round to the Memphis Grizzlies in six games. In the playoffs, Edwards averaged 25.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.2 steals.

Minnesota drafted Edwards No. 1 overall in 2020 out of Georgia. In two seasons with the Timberwolves, Edwards has averaged 20.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.3 steals over 144 regular season games.
