Enrique Freeman’s time away from the Timberwolves didn’t last long. Ten days after waiving him, Minnesota is bringing back a player it already knows pretty well.
Freeman, a Cleveland native who played college basketball at Akron, has agreed to a new two-way contract, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic.
The 26-year-old forward is well-liked within the organization, and his familiarity with coach Chris Finch’s system helped pave the way for his return, Krawczynski reported. Freeman is expected to report to the Iowa Wolves once the signing becomes official.
Minnesota had re-signed Freeman in July before cutting him Oct. 17, opening a two-way spot to explore other options. Ultimately, the Wolves came back to the familiar one.
Freeman spent most of last season in Iowa, averaging 16.5 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 39 G League games. He shot 54.2% from the field and 32.6% on 3-pointers.
His NBA opportunities were considerably more limited. Freeman appeared in four games for Minnesota, totaling 13 points and 10 rebounds in 37 minutes.
The No. 50 overall pick in the 2024 draft, Freeman began his NBA career with the Pacers before joining the Timberwolves in August 2025. He’ll fill Minnesota’s third two-way spot alongside Rocco Zikarsky and Zyon Pullin.
For Freeman, it’s another opportunity to turn productive G League minutes into a longer look in the NBA. This time, at least, he won’t need introductions.
