Edwards just played 41 minutes and scored 47 points in the Timberwolves’ 127-125 overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night.
Edwards, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, was averaging 33.3 PPG with 4.8 rebounds through the first four games of the 2026-27 NBA season.
The decision to do the surgery now is due to the fact that the team hopes Edwards can return in December if everything goes well.
