Timberwolves have seventh-best odds of winning title

The Timberwolves have wowed onlookers, fans and opposing coaches and players throughout the season as they’ve compiled a 24-7 record to sit in first place in the Western Conference.

Now oddsmakers are giving them some more notice, too.

As of the first day of the new year, the Wolves have the seventh-best odds of winning the NBA Finals this season at +1800, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. They opened the season with the 15th-best odds (+5500) to win the title.

Ahead of Minnesota are the Boston Celtics (+320), defending champion Denver Nuggets (+420), Milwaukee Bucks (+460), Phoenix Suns (+1100) and Los Angeles Clippers (+1400). 

The Timberwolves have not played the Bucks or Clippers yet this season. They've played the Celtics, Nuggets and Suns once each. They beat Boston 114-109 at home in overtime on Nov. 6, they topped Denver 110-89 at home on Nov. 1 and they lost to the Suns 133-115 in Phoenix on Nov. 15.
