The Minnesota Timberwolves took care of business on Sunday against the shorthanded San Antonio Spurs, improving to a 12–8 record early in the 2025–26 season. The win was fueled by the strong play of the team’s superstar and face of the franchise, Anthony Edwards.
The 24-year-old shooting guard has averaged 28.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists across 16 games this year while shooting 49.1% from the field and 40.9% from beyond the arc. He missed a few games in October with a right hamstring strain but quickly returned to form once healthy.
Edwards has continued to sharpen his three-point shot, making him one of the league’s most unstoppable players thanks to his ability to score, create for teammates and attack the basket.
On Sunday, Edwards delivered another standout performance against San Antonio, finishing with 32 points on 13 of 18 shooting, including four three-pointers. He added three assists and six rebounds in 35 minutes of action.
After the game, the Timberwolves announced on social media that Edwards’ efforts had cemented his place in franchise history.
His 30-plus point outing marked the 102nd of his six-year career, moving him alone into first place for the most 30-point games in Timberwolves history. “another one for the books ,” the team wrote on X.

Edwards’ milestone is all the more impressive given that he has reached it in just six seasons. Since being selected first overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, he has spent his entire career with the Timberwolves. He already owns three All-Star selections and two All-NBA honors, achievements that underline his rapid ascent into superstardom.
His impact has extended beyond individual accolades. With Edwards leading the charge, Minnesota has advanced to two straight Western Conference Finals, a level of success that once felt out of reach for the organization.
Still, the Timberwolves have yet to break through to the NBA Finals, leaving both the team and its star hungry for more. This season, the hope is that Edwards’ continued growth and dominance can finally push them past that barrier.
Operating at the peak of his powers, he represents the Timberwolves’ best chance to transform playoff runs into a legitimate championship pursuit.
