Former New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau is staying close to the NBA, even as he remains presently unemployed.
Thibodeau was spotted attending the Oklahoma City Thunder shootaround on Friday. Video showed him chatting with general manager Sam Presti while players worked out.

Presti and Thibodeau both worked in the San Antonio Spurs organization, though not at the same time. In reality, Thibodeau is likely just checking out the methods of some of the top teams around the league. He was spotted at another team’s practice last month despite a similar lack of connection.
Thibodeau, 67, clearly is not eager to step away from the NBA anytime soon. The Knicks fired him in June just days after the team’s loss in the Eastern Conference Finals and replaced him with Mike Brown. Even though many saw the firing as harsh, Thibodeau took it in stride and had a classy response to the decision.
It is safe to assume Thibodeau’s name will surface for most high-profile NBA openings. While there will always be concerns about the high workload his players are made to undertake, he wins everywhere he goes, and that will always get a team’s attention.
