Tony Brothers bluntly explains Luka Doncic’s technical fouls, ejection

The Los Angeles Lakers were not able to take down the Oklahoma City Thunder, losing 136-20 after just beating them a few days ago. This game was quite different than the other one, as Luka Doncic did not make it to the end of the game because he was ejected. Many were wondering the reason why Doncic received two techs and was ejected, and after the game, Tony Brother did a pool report on the events that happened.

When asked why Doncic received his first technical by J.T. Orr, Brothers said “He directed profanity at a game official.”

He was then asked why he assessed the second foul, and he said, “He looked directly at an official and used vulgar language.”

Jarred Vanderbilt was also assessed a technical during the game, and Brothers said the reason why was for stepping towards and verbally taunting a player while the ball was dead. All of these things could have ruined any momentum that the Lakers had during the game, and the Thunder were able to take advantage.

Luka Doncic explains ejection after loss vs. Thunder

After the game, Doncic shared that he was confused about the technical fouls that were given to him because he was talking trash to a fan sitting courtside.

“I never got a fan ejected,” Doncic said via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “Never. But if [the fan is] going to talk, I’m going to talk back, like always. That had nothing to do with the ref. So I really don’t understand.”

The Lakers were up 108-107 right before Doncic was ejected. From there, the Thunder outscored them 29-12 over the last 7:40 of the game. Coming down the stretch of the season, these games are important for the Lakers, and with the loss, they will not be able to get the No. 2 seed, and the Houston Rockets have officially clinched it.

They still have a chance to secure the No. 3 seed, but are only a game ahead of four teams with three games left in the season. The Lakers have shown that they can be one of the scary teams going into the postseason, and if they’re able to take care of business with just a few games remaining, they can put themselves in a great position to have a top-seed and home-court advantage in the first round. Their next challenge will be against the Dallas Mavericks and will be the first time Doncic has been in the arena since being traded.
