Tony Parker does not regret signing with Hornets despite Spurs’ injuries

Tony Parker says he does not regret signing with the Charlotte Hornets during the offseason even though the San Antonio Spurs now seem to have a big need for him.

Parker signed a two-year deal with the Hornets despite playing his entire career with the Spurs. He left for Charlotte to follow Spurs assistant James Borrego, who was hired as Charlotte’s new head coach.

The Spurs meanwhile have seen guards Dejounte Murray, Derrick White and Lonnie Walker go down with injuries this preseason, which might have opened the door for more playing time for someone like Parker.

According to reporter Tom Osborn, Parker said Friday he “feels bad” for his former team but has no regrets about signing with Charlotte.

Parker, 36, played 12 minutes in the Hornets’ preseason game on Friday. Borrego said over the summer that he was expecting to play Parker 14-16 minutes per game this season.
