Top Prospect Makes Stunning Admission Before NBA Draft

Tre Johnson is one of the most electric scorers in the 2025 NBA Draft class, but it’s his mindset, not just his jumper, that’s turning heads this week.

The former Texas Longhorns star made a surprising admission ahead of Wednesday’s draft: he only worked out for four teams: the Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards, Charlotte Hornets, and Brooklyn Nets. Johnson's focused approach raised eyebrows in an era where top prospects often cast a wide net.

Rather than trying to tailor his game to each team or put on a show, Johnson kept things simple. He told reporters he never tried to be anything he’s not, saying, “What you see is what I am.”

That confidence has been a defining trait throughout his rise. Johnson led the SEC in scoring as a freshman, averaging 19.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game while shooting nearly 40% from three. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year and broke Kevin Durant’s Texas freshman scoring record with a 39-point outburst against Arkansas.

At 6-foot-5, Johnson is a smooth three-level scorer with a natural feel for the game. His ability to create off the dribble and knock down tough shots has made him a projected top-10 pick, with Utah and Charlotte both rumored to be seriously considering him.

But it’s not just the numbers, it’s the way he carries himself. Johnson’s decision to limit his workouts and stay true to his game speaks to a player who knows exactly who he is.

With the draft just around the corner, Johnson’s stock remains strong. Whether he lands in Utah, Washington, Charlotte, or Brooklyn, he’s made it clear: he’s not trying to fit a mold; he’s ready to make his own.
