Toronto Raptors 2022-23 Betting Guide

Toronto does things a little differently than most other teams in the NBA. They are definitely all-in on versatility, trying to corner the market on guys 6'6" to 6'9". They are doing a good job of it too.

They have some All-Star level talent in the form of Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam, but they lack a superstar which is why some feel this team is limited, even though they finished fifth in the Eastern Conference last season.

Nick Nurse might be the best coach in the NBA though and with a quality roster to work with, Toronto is not going to go down without a fight. They never do.

2021-22 Year In Review

Toronto had a hard time staying fully healthy last year and as a result, when their core players were available they leaned really hard on them. Siakam and VanVleet finished at the top of the NBA in minutes per game and while they both had very good seasons, the team wore down in the playoffs, especially VanVleet.

They did finish fifth in the Eastern Conference and Scottie Barnes earned Rookie of the Year, so in a year where not much was expected and injuries hit hard, they actually have a good amount to be proud of. They even got down 3-0 to the 76ers in the first round, but won the next two games to show the mettle they express most nights.

2022-23 Toronto Raptors Futures

Atlantic Division: +1100
Eastern Conference: +2000
NBA Title: +4000

The Raptors are going to be in the mix in the East again this season. They are not a contender for the title but they are a team that is going to battle you every night. The big question mark in terms of improvement is the scoring of Barnes. He averaged 15ppg without doing much shooting, but if he has developed that part of his game this lineup gets much more dangerous. Speaking of shooting, that is what the Raptors acquired when they got Otto Porter Jr in free agency (also he is 6'8"). Having another guy with championship experience never hurts either.

Toronto is also looking for improvements from a trio of young players to ease the burden of their core lineup. Precious Achiuwa has shown flashes of being a versatile threat but his consistency has not been there. They need his size (he is bigger than most Raptors at 6'9") and defensive abilities on the floor. Toronto also needs either Malachi Flynn or Delano Banton to evolve into a legit backup point guard to ease the burden on of FVV.

Toronto Raptors - Bet To Consider

Toronto to win the Atlantic Division +1100

Toronto was not far off the pace of Philly and Boston last season, finishing third. They should be better than they were a year ago though and if they stay healthy they will be in the hunt with those 2 teams and Brooklyn this season - just at a much better payoff. Toronto generally seems to value the regular season more than other franchises too so when you look at that payoff and the fact that this team should not have to deal with COVID as much this season there are definitely worth a play. They do have a tough early schedule though so this bet could even increase in value.
