The Toronto Raptors had two roster spots open after Justise Winslow and Mouhamadou Gueye’s contracts had expired as of Monday night.

Both players are back in the G League as the Raptors have looked elsewhere to fill up one of the open spots.

Toronto has reportedly signed DJ Carton to a 10-day contract, per Shams Charania.

Carton is a 6-foot-3 point guard who has spent most of the season playing for the Iowa Wolves, which is the G league affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

He has averaged 18.6 points, 5.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game in 29 contests for the Wolves this season.

He is doing it while shooting 39.5 percent from deep on 4.4 three-point attempts and has a 60 percent effective field goal percentage.

That is outstanding shooting that the Raptors could use.

The Raptors are currently thin at guard with Dennis Schroder now with the Brooklyn Nets. Therefore, Toronto could use a backup for Immanuel Quickley should he miss any time.

Carton now joins Javon Freeman-Liberty, Markquis Nowell and Bruce Brown Jr. as the guard options from off the bench.

The Raptors will see what Carton can provide over this 10-day contract. He should get an opportunity to prove himself over the next couple of games.

The Raptors now have 14 roster spots occupied, but they still have one more spot to fill.

Next up for Raptors

The Raptors will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Dennis Schroder and the Brooklyn Nets.

Toronto had a nice week long break with the All-Star Weekend festivities so they will be ready to go for the final stretch.

Toronto has 27 games left on the season and even though the team is unlikely to make a play-in push, there will still be a lot to look forward to as the seasons winds down.
