Draymond Green isn’t afraid to speak his mind after what Alperen Sengun said about their playoff series. In the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs, the Golden State Warriors faced the Houston Rockets in a seven-game series. It was a battle between the youth and the experienced veterans. The Warriors came out victorious in the end and advanced to the second round.

Months after their series, Sengun appeared in a Turkish YouTube channel, “Socrates Dergi.” In the interview, the All-Star center commented on the Rockets’ series against the Warriors. When he claimed that their opponents were constantly whining when they weren’t called for a foul, his remarks attracted a lot of attention.

“They’re a very experienced team,” Sengun said. “They fouled a lot. In the playoffs, they don’t call it. But they were the ones crying all series about fouls not being called.”

Sengun’s comments gained various reactions from fans. Green also caught wind of it and clapped back on the social media platform Threads.

“That’s a tough thing to say after you lose… You have to win to stuff like that,” Green posted on Threads.

The four-time champion did not stop there. He also had a three-word response when a Warriors fanpage on Threads posted Sengun’s quote.

“Hold that L,” the four-time All-Star replied.

With that response from Green, the next time the two teams will face could be a fun and intense match. Kevin Durant, whom the Rockets acquired through a trade with the Phoenix Suns, added to their roster this summer. It will add fuel to the fire since Durant played for the Golden State Warriors previously.

Golden State Warriors’ star is determined to win his fifth NBA championship

After Durant left, there were questions about how well the Golden State Warriors could keep contending for a championship. They shut down the doubters in 2022 when they beat the Boston Celtics and won the NBA title. Since then, however, things haven’t been the same.

The group has undergone significant change. Klay Thompson, who was originally part of the team’s Big 3, was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks. The Warriors replaced him with six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, who is looking to win his first ring. But the story is different for Green and Stephen Curry.

During an interview with Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports, Curry revealed that he’s determined to win his fifth championship.

“You can’t chase that stuff. It’s the process that you commit to. It sounds so boring and dull, but it is the only way you get to where you want to go. And I think I’m old enough and wise enough now to stay on that journey of just being in the moment,” Curry said.

Next season, the Warriors are hoping their veteran players are healthy and still have enough juice left in the tank to contend for the championship.
