After the announcement that adidas and Trae Young were parting ways in October of this year, essentially scrapping the fourth edition of his signature Trae Young 1 shoe, Young became a sneaker-free agent heading into the 2024-25 NBA season. The free agent tag was in phrase only, as Young has only been spotted in Jordan Brand sneakers since the start of the season.

Young has been chiefly seen in various versions of the Air Jordan 39 while adding to his assist numbers on the court, becoming the fastest to reach 4000 assists in Atlanta Hawks history.

Off the court, Young has been seen in black cement Air Jordan 3s, black and white Air Jordan 1s, and more, all accompanied by Jordan brand apparel before the announcement.

On November 16th, while heading out for the Atlanta Hawks West Coast road trip, Young was seen in full Jordan Brand apparel.

On November 18th, before the Atlanta Hawks' matchup against the Sacramento Kings, Young was wearing Jordan Brand joggers with all white Air Jordan 1 lows as he headed into the arena.

On November 20th, before the Atlanta Hawks' matchup against the Golden State Warriors, Young was seen wearing black and white Air Jordan 1s as he headed into the arena.

Today, Young and the Jordan brand shared images of the Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard dressed in Jordan gear to announce his signing. Speaking about the signing, Young states, “Being a Jordan Brand athlete and putting on my Jordans again feels great. Joining this family is a full circle moment and an honor.” Details of the brand, as far as length, financial terms, and a signature shoe, have yet to be disclosed.
