Trae Young and Anthony Davis find themselves restarting their careers in the middle of the 2025-26 season with the Washington Wizards. Young joined the team in the capital on Jan. 9 after being traded by the Atlanta Hawks for CJ McCollum and Cory Kispert.
Davis became a Wizard a few hours before Thursday's trade deadline through a three-team trade that also saw Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum joining him in Washington.
The Dallas Mavericks worked with the Wizards and the Charlotte Hornets to offload the 10-time All-Star. In return, they received a haul of players and draft picks, including Khris Middleton, Marvin Bagley III, AJ Johnson, two first-round picks (2026 and 2030), and three second-round picks.
The Hornets received Malaki Branham to complete the swap.
Young welcomed his new Wizards teammate by sharing a throwback photo. It is unknown when the photo was taken, but it's clear the star point guard was still young at the time.
"Inevitable!" Young wrote. "Welcome to DC!"
The pair joined the Wizards while still injured. Young's last game was on Jan. 7 when he was still with the Hawks. He played just 10 games before the trade.
AD, for his part, hasn't played since Jan. 8 and was only available for 20 games with the Mavericks due to nagging injuries.

Young and Davis built stellar careers with their previous teams. The former led the Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021 and earned four All-Star nods during that span. Davis, meanwhile, is a 10-time All-Star and won his only championship so far with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.
