In Kyle Boone’s latest NBA Mock Draft, Tre Johnson keeps climbing, landing at No. 5 overall.

The Texas freshman is projected to join the Utah Jazz, building on a season that turned heads across the league. With his scoring ability and all-around skillset, Johnson’s rise feels anything but surprising. Scouts have been watching, and now the draft boards are reflecting just how much buzz he’s generating.

Johnson led all Division I freshmen in scoring during the season and made more three-pointers than any other player in his class. That combination of production and shooting efficiency has helped solidify his reputation as one of the top guards in the draft.

“He’s a bucket-getter who has opened eyes not just with his versatility as a scorer, but with his rounded skill set as a playmaker, too,” Boone wrote.

His current projection to Utah suggests a clear value fit. The Jazz continue building around young core players, and Johnson’s ability to contribute offensively right away makes him a compelling option.

With a 6'5" frame and nearly 40% shooting from three, Johnson is seen as a dual threat both in isolation and off the catch. Scouts have praised his ability to score at all levels and also noted improvement in his vision and ball movement.

This jump into the top five marks a notable development in a class led by names like Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper. Johnson’s stock keeps rising, thanks to his consistency and ability to show up in big moments.
