Shortly after free agency opened, ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that the Chicago Bulls and Tre Jones have agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal to return to the team. Jones joined the Bulls in February as part of a three-team trade that sent Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings. During his time with the Bulls, Jones played 18 games and averaged 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and shot 50% from three-point range.
According to John Hollinger's BORD$ formula, Jones’ contract should be valued at nearly $22 million per season. While no team was likely to offer him that kind of deal, it suggests optimism that he will significantly outplay his latest contract. Three months ago, Jones himself suggested to Sun-Times Insider Joe Cowley that he would be open to signing a team-friendly deal to return to the Bulls during a rapid-fire Q&A.
