The Miami Heat will begin the season without their key star, Tyler Herro.

The 2024-25 NBA season was by far Tyler Herro’s best campaign for the Miami Heat since getting drafted into the league.

Herro averaged 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game while also earning the first NBA All-Star selection of his career. Herro will play a key role for the Heat in the upcoming season.

However, the Heat will have to start the new season without the 25-year-old, as he underwent surgery on his left ankle.

Tyler Herro will return from injury against the Los Angeles Lakers

Considering the Heat will once again aim to be a playoff team in the 2025-26 NBA season, a good start is essential for them.

For that to happen, Herro will have to perform well on a nightly basis. Speaking of which, the Heat star recently provided an update on when fans can expect him to be back on the court.

“I told them [trainers], I’m about to make the fastest ankle surgery comeback in history. So, as of now, I’m going to be back in about five games into the season, but we’ll see,” Herro said, via SiriusXM NBA Radio.

Well, that’s some good news for the Heat Nation. Interestingly enough, the Heat are scheduled to face off against the Los Angeles Lakers when Herro announced his tentative return.

Being one of the most accomplished franchises in NBA history, every player wants to show off against the LA Lakers.

At times, even injured players miraculously recover to play against the Lakers. Herro’s tentative return is yet another example of the same.

Last season, even Luka Doncic was shocked the Lakers were getting extra attention from players around the league.

Head coach JJ Redick backed Doncic’s bold claim and Herro will likely prove them right in the beginning of the 2025-26 season.
