Tyrese Haliburton went down early with a non-contact injury in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Now, per reporting on the broadcast, Indiana has made his status official for the final game of the season in the NBA.

Per Lisa Salters on ABC, Haliburton has been ruled out for Game 7. They designated it as a right lower leg injury at this time.

“The Pacers have just made it official, saying Tyrese Haliburton has a right lower leg injury. He will not return.”

After the update, Salters later shared her conversations with Haliburton, who had been dealing with a calf strain coming out of Game 5. He knew he was at risk of further injury, like the one he has seemingly suffered tonight, but wanted to leave everything out there with a chance for the Pacers to keep going in Game 6 or win it all in Game 7 of The Finals.

“Just talking to Tyrese, just about how his leg was doing, you know, he said there was some soreness, some pain but that they’d been doing a great job treating it around the clock. He said, honestly, he came through Game 6 much better than he thought. And he thought he was definitely in a better space than he was going to be,” said Salters. “Like you said, he knew he was playing with the risk but he said it was something he had to do or else he’d regret it for the rest of his life.”

Then, with the game almost at halftime, Salters came on again to share the latest from John Haliburton, Tyrese’s father. He confirmed that his son had suffered an Achilles injury with them trying to watch the remainder of Game 7 as he receives treatment in the locker room.

“I just spoke to Tyrese Haliburton’s father who has been back in the locker room with his son. Mr. Haliburton confirmed that it is an Achilles injury,” said Salters. “He said Tyrese is doing as well as he can be under the circumstances. The entire family is back there with him – his mom, his dad, his brother. He said he seems to be in good spirits. He’s watching the game and he’s trying to rooting on his team back in the locker room.”

More on Haliburton’s injury in Game 7

Tyrese Haliburton was at risk of injury with what he was dealing with this series coming out of Game 5. Now, in the final game of the season, Haliburton might have ended up with an even more significant injury.

In the first quarter of Game 7 in the NBA Finals, Haliburton went down on a drive with a non-contact injury. He was visibly upset as he laid on the floor, as the rest of his teammates came out onto the court to surround him, before he was helped off to the locker room.

Haliburton had been hurt with a calf strain that he suffered in Game 5. He would play in Game 6, though, with no effect coming out of that game. However, in Game 7, Haliburton went down again and, this time, could be hurt with something even worse than before.

This was worst-case scenario for Haliburton, who had been one of the stars of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. He had averaged 18.6 points (47.3% FG, 38.8% 3PT on 3.0 makes), 9.2 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game in the regular season in his fifth year in the association. He has since averaged 17.7 points (46.1% FG, 32.9% 3PT on 2.3 makes), 9.0 assists, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.4 steals in what’s been an all-time postseason run for him, making some huge playing and making some massive shots in leading Indiana to the NBA Finals. That didn’t include the nine points, off of three made triples on four attempts, he had in the first seven minutes before leaving in Game 7.
