As the conversation surrounding the MVP title for the 2025-26 season intensifies, Tyrese Haliburton has made his pick clear, and Luka Doncic isn’t in it.

The Indiana Pacers guard, who is sidelined by an injury, threw his full support behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for a second consecutive MVP award, while speaking on NBA on Prime.

“I see there has been a lot of conversation about this. I think, if I had a vote, it would for sure go to Shai for back-to-back. I think what Wemby is doing in San Antonio is amazing. So, I don’t wanna take away from that.” Tyrese Haliburton said.

He added, “But I would vote for Shai, but I see the campaign that’s going on for him and it’s with well reason, but I would definitely vote for Shai.”

While Haliburton acknowledged Victor Wembanyama’s push as legitimate, calling the Spurs big man “definitely MVP-worthy,” he held firm on Shai-Gilgeous Alexander as his choice given what the Oklahoma City star has delivered atop the league standings this season.

Having said that, Luka Doncic, who was recently slapped with a one-game suspension following his 16th technical foul this season, opened up about how sliding down the MVP ladder felt.

Luka Doncic Expresses Frustration Over MVP Ratings

While Victor Wembanyama, Gilgeous-Alexander, and Jokic top the KIA MVP ratings, Luka Doncic has found himself on the outside of that conversation despite a historic run with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He scored 60 points in a 134-126 win over Miami on March 19, becoming the first Laker to reach that mark since Kobe Bryant’s finale in April 2016. He is averaging 33.7 points per game this season, yet the MVP needle hasn’t moved in his favor.

Expressing his disgruntlement to the media, Luka Doncic said, “The better I play, the more I go down in ratings. So, I don’t know what more I can do.”

As Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leads the Thunder at the top and Wembanyama drives a credible campaign in San Antonio, Doncic’s path to MVP recognition grows narrower, even as his numbers continue to climb.
