Tyrese Haliburton Sends Cold Message After Being Named 'Most Overrated' Player in NBA

Throughout the NBA Playoffs, awards such as Sixth Man of the Year or Clutch Player of the Year are set to be announced.

However, thanks to a recent anonymous survey conducted by The Athletic, there is a set of superlatives that aren't conventional awards that have also been revealed. These included things such as the best organization, worst organization, future face of the league and most overrated.

Regarding who they felt was the most overrated, 14.4% of the 90 voters selected Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, the highest marking in the category. On Tuesday, Haliburton was asked about the poll's results following the Pacers' 123-115 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, and whether or not it impacted his play.

"It didn't impact the way I played today at all," Haliburton said. "I must be doing something right if that's the case. I don't have a big speech or comment on it. I mean all I care about is this locker room and winning games. We're in position to go to Milwaukee and continue this series on. So, not too worried about that. I know who I am. I'm confident in my own skin and not worried about what anybody thinks."

Ironically, at the time Haliburton addressed the question, he was fresh off recording a double-double, scoring 21 points and dishing out 12 assists in a game that gave the Pacers a 2-0 lead on the series.

The survey didn't provide player responses about him like it did for other categories, so it is unclear why he was named the most overrated. However, it is worth noting that his numbers declined compared to the past few seasons, with his points (18.6), assists (9.2), and rebounds (3.5) all being his lowest marks since being traded to the Pacers in the 2021-22 season.

Regardless of what his peers think, Haliburton and the Pacers can make a statement if they make a run. The next game of the series will take place on Friday in a game that will tip at 8:00 p.m. ET and air on ESPNU.
