Underdog ignores cease-and-desist letter from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

One of the biggest discussions regarding this NBA postseason so far has surrounded Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

As the reigning two-time MVP, his status as one of the best players in the world isn’t in question, but flopping has long been perceived as a major part of his game.

As this discourse reaches new heights, social media company Underdog recently revealed a new board game taking a jab at Gilgeous-Alexander. The superstar’s legal team sent them a cease-and-desist letter in response, but Thursday’s report from Front Office Sports revealed that Underdog plans to proceed with the board game anyways.

The game is called Unethical Hoops and it’s a parody of the classic board game Operation. It functions almost identically, with the players trying to take basketballs away from Gilgeous-Alexander without being called for a foul.

The player on the board doesn’t have a name, but its a spitting image of the 27-year-old guard. To top it off, they featured Phoenix Suns forward Dillon Brooks in the reveal video.

While SGA’s legal team claims that Underdog does not have permission to use his image and likeness for a profit, the company is seemingly planning to call their bluff.

They claim to be proceeding with the distribution as only 100 copies of the game were made with fans entering their name for a chance to win a copy. The cease-and-desist letter also asked the company to destroy all copies of the game.

With the winners scheduled to be announced on Friday, it may not be long before more information comes out about how far this conflict will go.
