Unlikely hero leads Bucks to comeback win over Pacers
Milwaukee Bucks guard Gary Trent Jr. Stephen Lew-Imagn Images

Gary Trent Jr. and Giannis Antetokounmpo each scored 37 points while leading the Bucks to a comeback 117-101 victory over the visiting Indiana Pacers on Friday, cutting Milwaukee's deficit in the Eastern Conference first-round playoff series to 2-1.

Trent was inserted into the starting lineup in place of Taurean Prince and delivered for coach Doc Rivers, hitting 9 of 12 3-point attempts. The nine tries tied the franchise playoff record set by Ray Allen in the 2001 Eastern Conference finals.

Antetokounmpo grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out six assists, while teammate AJ Green finished with 12 points on four 3-pointers.

Pascal Siakam put 28 points on 12-for-19 shooting for Indiana, which led by 12 points in the second quarter. Aaron Nesmith contributed 18 points while Tyrese Haliburton logged 14 points and 10 assists.

Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday in Milwaukee.

The third quarter belong to Trent and the Bucks. The sharpshooter shot 5-for-6 from deep while scoring 18 points, leading Milwaukee to dominate the period 39-18 to move on top 86-75.

Bucks guard Damian Lillard, who shot 1-for-10 through the first three quarters, hit a 3-pointer to start the fourth, and Green followed suit on Milwaukee's next two possessions.

The Bucks shot 6-for-10 from beyond the arc in the fourth, with Trent connecting on both of his long-range shots.

It was a rock fight early, with both teams struggling to shoot in particular from beyond the arc. Both clubs made just two shots from deep in the first quarter, and they went into the second tied at 26.

Indiana found some momentum late in the second and took a 57-47 lead into halftime. The Pacers shot 46 percent from the floor before the break, while the Bucks hit just 38 percent, including a 4-for-23 showing (17.4 percent) from deep.

Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 17 first-half points. Nesmith topped Indiana with 15.

Cavs’ Darius Garland Softball Game Lineup Includes Evan Mobley, Rich Paul, Kenny Atkinson

The celebrity softball game being hosted by Cavaliers guard Darius Garland reads like a who’s who of Cleveland sports personalities and NBA types. Probably because it is. The game is a way to raise funds for the Darius Garland Foundation, designed to “empower the next generation to chase their dreams,” per the official press release. Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson and president of basketball operations Koby Altman will also take part in the day’s events. Important trade stalls as Maple Leafs dangle bottom-six forward

The Toronto Maple Leafs are still looking for a solution to their bottom-six surplus, and veteran forward Calle Jarnkrok remains at the center of trade discussions. However, according to The Fourth Period, trade talks surrounding the 33-year-old winger have failed to gain momentum. They write: “He has a $2.1M cap hit and owns a 10-team no-trade list. The market hasn’t been vibrant, to this point, but the Leafs will continue to dangle him.” Why can’t the Maple Leafs find a taker for Jarnkrok? Jarnkrok has quietly been on the trade block for much of the offseason, but general manager Brad Treliving has yet to find a taker. After adding several depth forwards this summer, the Leafs now face a crowded bottom six — and Jarnkrok’s age, injury history and $2.1M cap hit through 2025–26 aren’t helping his value. Since joining Toronto, Jarnkrok has appeared in only 71 games over two seasons, scoring a modest 28 points. While his defensive versatility and penalty-killing ability are assets, his declining offensive production and durability concerns have made teams wary. With training camp approaching, the Maple Leafs may be forced to keep Jarnkrok on the roster — or retain salary in a deal — if they want to create space and flexibility. Dropping his cap hit down to just over $1M would open up the market a little. Until then, the Swedish forward remains a trade candidate in limbo. This isn’t great news as moving Jarnkrok from the roster is an important item on the team’s to-do list. Treliving would like more cap space, and with Jarnkrok and David Kampf both still on the roster, it hampers the GM’s ability to do other things.

Cause of death revealed for Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan died on Thursday morning after a medical episode at his home in Florida, and reports have revealed the cause of death for the wrestling legend. According to audio from Pinellas County Fire and EMS that was obtained by TMZ, medical personnel were dispatched to Hogan’s home in Clearwater for a cardiac arrest at 9:51 a.m. Thursday. Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, was treated by first responders before being taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Hogan was 71. Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com was also told by sources that Hogan suffered a “massive cardiac arrest.” There had been rumors in recent months that Hogan underwent a significant heart procedure, though his representatives denied that. Longtime radio personality Bubba The Love Sponge Clem, who was once friends with Hogan, claimed on his radio show in June that Hulk was in the hospital dealing with some sort of life-threatening condition. A rep for Hogan said at the time that Hulk had been receiving medical treatment to address lingering neck and back issues but was doing well. Hogan was arguably the most famous professional wrestler of all time. His popularity in the 1980s led to the rapid growth of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), which is now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). He also paved the way for pro wrestlers to go mainstream. Hogan leaves behind a complicated legacy. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. He was removed in 2015 over a scandal but reinstated again several years later. Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame a second time in 2020 as a member of the New World Order (NWO), which he joined in 1996 when he made a heel turn while wrestling in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). A six-time WWE Champion, Hogan remained a brand ambassador for the organization up until his death.

Packers rookie could miss time after suffering injury in training camp

The Green Bay Packers offense was dealt a bit of a blow early in training camp. Friday, third-round rookie wide receiver Savion Williams was a spectator for practice after suffering a concussion. Williams, chosen by the Packers with the No. 87 overall pick in April’s NFL Draft, is aiming to climb the depth chart at a crowded wide receiver position this summer. At 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds, Williams ran the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.48 seconds during the NFL Combine and has the profile of potentially becoming a reliable possession receiver and after-the-catch weapon for quarterback Jordan Love and the Packers’ offense. Reaching those benchmarks and climbing the depth chart will have to wait, though, as Williams works his way through the concussion protocol and back onto the field for practices during training camp and the preseason this summer.
