Victor Wembanyama made unique history with recent stretch of play

Victor Wembanyama certainly didn't need all 53 games he's played thus far in his rookie season to earn the title of a true NBA "unicorn." The 7-foot-4 rookie is just 20 years old and is capable of playing any position, guarding virtually any player and is constantly creating matchup nightmares for opponents.

But the latest NBA history made by Wembanyama may be the perfect way to sum up just how unique the San Antonio Spurs' budding star is. As OptaStats detailed, Wembanyama's three-game stretch from Thursday, February 22 to Sunday, February 25, featuring matchups with the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz, featured the No. 1 overall pick doing something no player in history has before.

Wembanyama had five blocks in each of those three games while also knocking down at least one three-pointer (making three against the Lakers). No player in the history of the NBA has managed to accomplish that.

The stat is incredibly impressive, but the fact that Wembanyama had five blocks in three consecutive games is nothing short of stunning. He also posted a double-double in each of those games and filled up the box score against the Lakers, finishing with 27 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, five blocks and five steals.

Wembanyama has thrived in the month of February, averaging 20.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.8 blocks and 2.0 steals in 11 games.
