Draymond Green could be forced to sit out the Golden State Warriors’ game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
Green has been a steady force for the Warriors of late as the team deals with a myriad of injuries. The former Defensive Player of the Year has not missed a game since March 15, suiting up in multiple back-to-back games across the past month.
In Saturday’s 124-118 loss to the Sacramento Kings, Green registered seven points, four rebounds, six assists, a steal and one three-pointer in 24 minutes of action.
He is now in danger of missing Golden State’s final game of the regular season.
The Warriors have submitted their injury report for Sunday’s matchup against the Clippers. Green has popped up on the same. Golden State announced that the 36-year-old veteran is officially questionable to play due to left low back injury management.
It does not sound like Green has sustained a new injury. Based on his designation, it appears that the Warriors are giving the four-time All-Star the night off in their last regular-season game of the year.
The good news for the Warriors is that Steph Currywill play against L.A. The former back-to-back MVP tweaked his right ankle against the Kings, but this will not prevent him from suiting up in the season finale.
The Warriors have locked the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference. They will face either the Clippers or the Portland Trail Blazers (both teams currently have the same record) in the first round of the play-in tournament.
Golden State will need to win two games — both of which will be on the road — in the play-in in order to secure the No. 8 seed in the NBA playoffs.
