A little over a week into the 2025-26 NBA season, the Golden State Warriors are in a solid spot.
With a 4-1 record, the Warriors currently own the No. 3 seed in the West, only behind the 5-0 Oklahoma City Thunder and 4-0 San Antonio Spurs. They will look to continue their hot start when they take on the 3-1 Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Additionally, they are making an impact on both sides of the ball, which should not come as a surprise given the team's offensive and defensive focus.
So far, Golden State's 119.2 offensive rating ranks as the ninth-best in the NBA, while its 113.7 defensive rating ranks as the 12th-best.
There is a lot of basketball left, but early on, the Warriors should be pretty happy with how they have started the season. Plus, on Thursday, the team made a positive injury announcement regarding guard De'Anthony Melton that should only bode well for their outlook for the rest of the season.

The Warriors are playing great basketball, and they are not even at full strength. Most notably, they are without Melton, who is still recovering from a torn ACL he suffered last season.
Melton played just six games for Golden State last season before suffering the injury that is still keeping him on the shelf. He did not play much, but when he did, it was clear that he possessed a lot of value.
During his brief run with the Warriors last season, the California native averaged 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.2 steals. Furthermore, he shot 40.7% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc.
He may not be an All-Star, but Melton can still make an impact on both sides of the ball for Golden State. Fortunately for the team, they may get him back on the court sooner rather than later.
"Warriors announce that De’Anthony Melton will be integrated into practice the next couple weeks, including some Santa Cruz practices. Re-evaluated again in another three weeks. In the late stages of ACL rehab," Anthony Slater of ESPN wrote on X.

Melton provides a lot of defensive intensity on a nightly basis. More specifically, he is active in the passing lanes and makes life difficult for the opposing team's ball-handler. Furthermore, he brings a lot of energy whenever he steps on the court, and he is a capable playmaker and facilitator.
For a team that still has Stephen Curry on it, Melton will never be their most valuable guard. Even so, the Warriors should get a huge boost when he makes his return as they look to establish themselves as a legitimate title contender this season.
