Warriors Announce Major Injury Update on Two Key Players

Without Gary Payton II and Chris Paul right now, as the two key reserves are dealing with separate injuries, the Golden State Warriors announced an official update on both players that read the following:

"Warriors guard Chris Paul, who exited Tuesday's game at Sacramento with 19 seconds remaining in the first quarter due to a lower left leg nerve contusion, underwent an MRI yesterday. The MRI confirmed the contusion and that there was no structural damage. He will be re-evaluated again on Monday. Warriors guard Gary Payton II, who exited Tuesday's game at Sacramento with 49 seconds remaining in the third quarter due to a right calf injury, underwent an MRI yesterday. The MRI confirmed a strained right calf for Payton. He will be reevaluated again in one (1) week."

All things considered, these are positive updates. With Paul having no structural damage, and Payton's injury being ruled a strain, it seems the worst case scenario was avoided for both players. That said, the Warriors will have to go deeper into their bench while Paul and Payton are sidelined, which can always be a challenge.

With some young players that have looked ready to contribute when given opportunities, the Warriors will have to rely on their depth for the time being. Looking to stay afloat in a competitive Western Conference, Golden State currently sits at 8-10.
