Stephen Curry has been forced to sit out the Golden State Warriors’ last three games due to a quad injury. The former back-to-back MVP is set to miss his fourth consecutive contest on Saturday as the Warriors face the Cleveland Cavaliers in a road game at Rocket Arena.

Curry has been in and out of the lineup to start the season for Golden State. He missed three games in early November due to an illness, and he has now been sidelined with a concerning thigh issue. The 11-time All-Star has been limited to 16 appearances this season, averaging 27.9 points on 47.1% shooting, 3.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.3 steals in 31.1 minutes per contest. Curry has also knocked down 4.7 triples per game on a 39.1% clip.

The Warriors have struggled without Curry. They’ve gone 1-2 with their cornerstone superstar sidelined and are coming off back-to-back losses heading into Saturday’s matchup in Cleveland.

It’s not just Curry who has been nursing an injury for the Warriors. Draymond Green will also sit out against the Cavs due to a foot injury, while Jimmy Butler will miss a second straight game due to a knee problem.

Golden State head coach Steve Kerr spoke to reporters on Saturday ahead of the Cavs game, and he provided an important update on Curry’s injury. According to the four-time NBA champion coach, Curry’s progress has been positive. So much so that Kerr stated “it’s realistic” that Curry would be able to return for Friday’s home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, per ESPN’s Anthony Slater.

The Warriors play again on Sunday. They will be on the road to battle the Chicago Bulls on the second night of a back-to-back set. Curry will not be available for that one, but as Kerr said, the 37-year-old is trending in the right direction for a potential return on Friday against the Wolves.

Golden State enters Saturday’s game against the Cavs with an 11-12 record. They are currently eighth in the Western Conference.
