The Golden State Warriors play their final game of the regular season on Sunday. They face the Los Angeles Clippers in a road game at Intuit Dome in a matchup with significant implications for the upcoming play-in tournament.

Draymond Green headed into the matchup with a questionable tag due to a back issue. The veteran forward has been a steady force for Golden State throughout the season. Green has played 68 games, averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.5 triples in 27.5 minutes per contest.

As it turns out, however, Warriors fans have seen the last of Green in the regular season.

The Warriors have submitted an updated injury report ahead of tip-off, and the update on Green is that he has been ruled out.

The Warriors announced that Green will not play against the Clippers on Sunday due to left low back injury management.

The Warriors are locked into the No. 10 seed in the West. However, the Clippers are tied with the Portland Trail Blazers for the No. 8 seed in the conference. The Clippers and the Blazers also play their last game of the regular season on Sunday.

It’s Portland that owns the tie-breaker between them, which means that if they defeat the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, the Blazers will be the No. 8 seed heading into the play-in.

The Clippers will need to defeat the Warriors to get any chance at the No. 8 seed. However, they will also need the Blazers to lose.

Golden State will face the No. 9 seed on the road in the play-in. If they win, the Warriors will then battle the loser of the play-in game between the No. 8 seed and the Phoenix Suns (No. 7). Whoever wins that second play-in game will secure the eighth seed in the NBA playoffs.

Green’s injury does not sound serious, so he is fully expected to be back in the mix on Wednesday for the play-in.
