The Golden State Warriors are in the midst of another slump. They are coming off a 127-117 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, marking Golden State’s fourth consecutive defeat. The Warriors have dropped to 32-24 and, as of writing, are ninth in the Western Conference.
Golden State has an opportunity to get back to winning ways on Sunday. They face off against the New York Knicks in a road matchup at Madison Square Garden. The problem for the Warriors is that they will be significantly undermanned against the Knicks.
Golden State is dealing with another injury crisis, and they received more bad news on Sunday.
Draymond Green will not play against the Knicks due to a back injury, missing his second straight game. Kristaps Prozingis, De’Anthony Melton and Moses Moody are out of action as well. Steph Curry is still dealing with a lingering knee injury and is not yet ready to return.
Two other players are now set to miss time for the Warriors. The team announced on Sunday that Al Horford and Seth Curry both underwent MRIs for their respective injuries. It has now been determined that Horford and Curry will be sidelined for at least one week.
Horford has been relatively healthy for the Warriors of late. While he has sat out all of their back-to-backs this season, the 39-year-old has been a steady contributor for the team. Horford is averaging 8.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.7 triples in 21.7 minutes per contest.
Horford tweaked his calf against the Wolves on Friday. He played just five minutes before being ruled out for the remainder of the contest. The five-time All-Star was diagnosed with a mild left calf strain. He will be evaluated in a week.
Curry, on the other hand, just returned from a lengthy injury absence. The 6-foot-1 guard is now dealing with a left adductor strain. He, too, is out for at least one week.
Horford and Curry will miss at least four games. Horford figures to be the bigger loss for head coach Steve Kerr. To address their frontcourt issues, the Warriors signed center Omer Yurtseven on a 10-day deal. The 6-foot-11 center is expected to make his debut on Sunday against New York.
