The Golden State Warriors lost their Game 2 matchup on the road against the Houston Rockets by a final score of 109-94 on Wednesday night. Jimmy Butler only played in eight minutes after going down with an injury due to a nasty fall.
Since being acquired ahead of the trade deadline, Butler has been a big part of leading the Warriors to this point. He has been exactly the addition the Warriors needed to make to become a legitimate contender in the Western Conference.
Fans have been waiting anxiously for an update on Butler's injury status. One has now been provided.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Golden State is optimistic about Butler's chances of returning quickly from the injury.
"Early word on Butler this morning is that the Warriors don't feel like this is anything worse than what Steph dealt with a few weeks back," he wrote on X. "If their next game was on Friday, Jimmy would be iffy but the extra day of rest is going to pay off. MRI results to come in afternoon."

This is the best news the Warriors could have received at this point. Golden State still hasn't made an official announcement, but this report provides reason for optimism.
After his trade to the Warriors, Butler played in 30 regular season games. He averaged 17.9 points per game to go along with 5.9 assists, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.7 steals.
In Game 1 of the series against the Rockets, Butler scored 25 points to go along with seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals.
Golden State will need a healthy Butler to get past Houston. Game 3 of the series is set to be played on Saturday night, with the game scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET.
