Warriors expect to keep Steve Kerr as talks continue

The Warriors and Steve Kerr are back at the table.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the two sides are set to resume talks Monday regarding Kerr’s future, and there’s a growing belief internally that something will get done.

In other words, this isn’t trending toward a breakup.

Kerr is said to want to stay. The Warriors, meanwhile, want more than a year-to-year arrangement. They’re pushing for a multi-year commitment from the 60-year-old coach who’s been at the center of their dynasty years.

So yeah, there’s some negotiating left. But the tone? Positive.

Still, there’s a twist.

ESPN executives are reportedly making a strong push to lure Kerr back to broadcasting next season. And let’s be honest, he’d be a natural fit there. Insightful, polished, already proven on TV.

But here’s the thing. Kerr walking away now would feel… off.

Not with Stephen Curry still doing his thing. Not with this group still trying to squeeze out another run.

So while there’s outside interest, the expectation inside the building is clear. The Warriors and Kerr aren’t done yet.
