Golden State Warriors fans were left holding their collective breath after star point guard Stephen Curry left Game 1 of their second-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday with a hamstring injury.
Though Golden State pulled out a 99-88 win, it likely didn’t make the sting of potentially losing Curry for most of the series any less painful.
Now, at least Warriors fans know a rough timeline of how long they’ll be without their top star after a new report from ESPN’s Shams Charania.
“The Warriors expect Stephen Curry to miss at least one week with the Grade 1 left hamstring strain, sources tell ESPN,” Charania wrote on X. “An exact return will be based on how their All-NBA guard responds to rehab with his first muscle strain.”

If Curry is out for a full seven days, he would miss Game 2 on Thursday, Game 3 on Saturday, Game 4 on Monday, and Game 5 next Wednesday, meaning the earliest he would return in Game 6 on Sunday, May 18.
As ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk noted on Tuesday night, the little rest time between games really hurts the Warriors’ chances of getting Curry back quickly.
“There's just one day of rest between each game from Game 1 through Game 5,” Youngmisuk wrote. “After that, there's a three-day break between Games 5 and 6. We'll have to see the severity of a Stephen Curry's hamstring strain.”
Curry was fantastic in Golden State’s first-round series against the Houston Rockets, averaging 4 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.
He had 13 points, a rebound, and an assist in 13 minutes in Game 1 before heading to the locker room to be evaluated, and the Warriors held a 44-31 lead at halftime thanks to his first-half performance.
