The NBA playoffs are well underway. While many teams are competing to raise the Larry O’Brien Trophy, teams watching from home are trying to position themselves during the offseason to make the playoffs and compete at the highest level in the future.
While a lot of teams have questions heading into the offseason, the Golden State Warriors seem to have the most questions that need to be answered this offseason that could affect the direction of the franchise.
In a story from Anthony Slater and Ramona Shelburne of ESPN, there was a lot of insight surrounding the organization, like signing president of basketball operations Mike Dunleavy Jr. to a multiyear extension, and what it plans to do during the offseason.
The state of the organization is in limbo. Many questions need to be addressed during arguably the most important and uncertain offseason during the Stephen Curry era in Golden State.
Head coach Steve Kerr’s contract expires after this league year ends, and whether to bring him back or not is the first question that must be answered during the offseason. The Slater & Shelburne story revealed the organization needs to see if Kerr has a hunger to keep coaching.
If he still has the hunger, it doesn't seem likely that the organization will go in a different direction at head coach with star players like Curry and Draymond Green wanting him back.
Green also has a decision to make this offseason. He has a player option on his contract. He will need to decide whether to either opt in for another year or opt out and potentially sign a multiyear deal. Kerr’s decision could play a factor in whether Green stays with the team.

Despite his affinity for Kerr coaching, Green’s decision could affect the organization's direction.
According to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, barring renewed faith that prompts a change of heart, Golden State might be looking for a new head coach. The organization could potentially land a top-four lottery pick, and having a top pick in the draft could give Kerr renewed faith regarding his coaching future.
After the Warriors' final game, Curry said he wants a contract extension. He is dealing with a new normal of a runner's knee injury that could potentially affect his minutes and usage for next season and in the future. He wants to reshape the narrative and rethink how they do things as an organization, not focusing solely on winning championships. One way to reshape the team is through the draft.
On a team with multiple players who are injured and above the age of 35 years old, they need to decide whether to draft a player in the first round or whether they land or trade the pick to get a ready-made player in his prime to help maximize Curry’s final years in Golden State.
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered during this offseason. Only time will tell what the organization will do in the offseason, but it seems like anything is on the table (except trading Curry) in terms of offseason moves to get back to the championship team it once was during its dynastic run.
