Moses Moody will be recovering from a torn left patellar tendon, so the Golden State Warriors won't have him for a while. The Warriors player suffered the season-ending injury during the team's 137-131 overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks on March 23. It happened during the overtime period of the game.
Moody had a steal and an open floor for an easy basket. When he tried to jump, however, his knee gave way, and he fell on the floor. He remained down for some time until the game was stopped and he was put on a stretcher. While the Warriors had the win that game, it was a devastating blow to the team's injury-riddled season.
The Warriors had fewer attacking options as a result of Moody's injury.
On Saturday, the Warriors announced that Moody underwent a successful surgery to repair his injury. According to the franchise, he will be sidelined for the rest of the 2025-26 season and "will begin rehabilitation immediately."
On Sunday, Moody posted a motivational message to his fans on the social media site Threads, wishing him a speedy recovery. It was his first time addressing the injury, and he took the time to encourage his supporters.
“I appreciate all of the love. Every challenge I’ve been through in life I’m glad I went through. I’m sure I’ll feel the same about this. ” Moody posted.
Moody's injury was a significant blow to the Warriors' season. He was having the best season of his career, averaging 12.1 points and 3.3 rebounds. Before his injury, he led the team in scoring with 23 points on 40.0% shooting from the field.
Aside from Moody, the Warriors have also dealt with injuries to Jimmy Butler and Stephen Curry. Butler had a season-ending torn ACL injury in January, while Curry has not played since Feb. 3 due to a runner's knee.
Before he underwent surgery, head coach Steve Kerr had an update on Moody's injury. It was a positive update regarding his road to recovery.
“Well, the MRI was clean in terms of all that other stuff. So it's [patellar] the tendon, no damage to cartilage and bone. And so that's the good news. And that allows it for it to be a pretty basic surgery,” Kerr told 97.5 The Game.

Although it's a serious setback for Moody and the Warriors, Kerr said that the former Arkansas standout is in "good spirits." Golden State is still focused on finishing the current season strongly and securing a spot in the Play-In Tournament. But without some of their offensive options, others will have to step up their game. The team is 36-38 and are 10th in the Western Conference.
Moody will need a long time to recover, but fans should anticipate his comeback the following season.
