The Minnesota Timberwolves won Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Warriors star point guard Steph Curry missed his second consecutive game after suffering a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1. The two-time MVP and four-time champion is expected to miss Games 4 and 5 as well.

During Game 3, microphones caught Warriors guard Gary Payton II telling Timberwolves star shooting guard Anthony Edwards that Golden State is trying to get the series to Game 6 so Curry can return from his hamstring injury.

Curry's full name is Wardell Stephen Curry II. His father, former NBA player Dell Curry, shares the Wardell moniker.

According to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Steph Curry went through a medium-speed shooting routine before Game 3 on Saturday.

This is the first time in Curry's career that he's dealt with a hamstring injury. The future Hall of Famer is 37 years old.

"Curry didn’t push it to full speed, according to a team source," Slater wrote. "He’s yet to burst or cut or test that left hamstring in a manner that’ll deliver him and Rick Celebrini — the team’s lead medical decision maker — the true information they’ll need on whether the hamstring is healed enough to return deeper in this series.

"But he went through a medium-speed shooting routine and rode the stationary bike. This was a notable advancement for Curry in his race against time."

Curry is averaging 22.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.1 assists in the 2025 postseason while shooting 47.7 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from beyond the arc and 89.3 percent from the free-throw line in eight games against the Houston Rockets and Timberwolves.

The Warriors beat the Rockets in the first round in seven games.

Game 6 of the Warriors-Timberwolves series would be on Sunday, May 18. Golden State has to win one more game in the series to guarantee a Game 6.

Game 4 of the series is set for 10 p.m. ET Monday. The game will be televised by ESPN.
