Less than 16 minutes into Game 1 of their second-round series, the Golden State Warriors suffered a major blow as Stephen Curry limped back into the locker room, holding his hamstring.
Still, despite Curry missing the rest of the game, Draymond Green and the rest of the Warriors were able to take a 1-0 series lead over Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves 99-88.
Coming into the game, Green had recorded 997 career assists in the NBA Playoffs through 164 total postseason games. This ranked 15th all-time, behind former Boston Celtics guard Dennis Johnson (1,006).
With 8:48 remaining in the second quarter, just under 20 seconds before Curry left the game, Green hit his star point guard for a 13-foot floater, marking his third assist of the game.
Sure enough, his third assist of the game marked a major milestone for Green, becoming just the 15th player in NBA history to record 1,000+ career assists in the postseason.
The Warriors reacted to the historic news with a post on X.
"DIMES. @Money23Green is the 15th player in NBA history to reach 1,000 career NBA Playoffs assists!"

Green finished the night with 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting, four 3-pointers made, eight rebounds, two steals and six assists. Following the win, his total postseason assists count sits at 1,003, just three shy of Johnson.
The record for most assists in the NBA Playoffs belongs to Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, who recorded 2,346 assists through 190 career playoff games. Green has also recorded more assists in the playoffs than Curry, who finished the night with one assist, bringing his career total to 953.
It could be a long couple of days for the Warriors as they await further testing on Curry's injury. Game 2 against the Timberwolves will tip off on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
