Steph Curry is expected to make his highly anticipated return to action on Friday as the Golden State Warriors host the Minnesota Timberwolves in a home game at Chase Center. The former back-to-back MVP has been out of commission for the last five games due to a quad issue, but he is now set to return.

Draymond Green, on the other hand, has missed the last two games for the Golden State Warriors due to a foot injury. The former Defensive Player of the Year last saw action on Dec. 4 against the Philadelphia 76ers, which is when Green sustained a right mid-foot sprain.

The 35-year-old veteran has been working his way back from the injury, but he hit a snag ahead of Friday’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Warriors have already ruled Green out for the Wolves game, but not because of the foot injury. The four-time All-Star is now dealing with a new issue that could be a cause for concern.

Green is now in his 14th season with the Warriors. He’s played 20 games thus far, averaging 8.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.5 assists and a career-high 1.6 triples on a 33.3% clip. He’s no spring chicken, but Green remains one of the most dependable defenders in the entire league at this point in his career.

Green, however, is now set to miss his third straight game for the Warriors on Friday. Golden State announced the news via the official injury report on Thursday, listing Green as out for personal reasons.

As of writing, the Warriors have not provided any details on Green’s personal matter. Veteran reporter Monte Poole of NBCS reported, though, that Green has been excused from practice on Wednesday and Thursday. He was initially considered questionable to return on Friday before the team ruled him out more than 24 hours before the game.

It is also worth noting that the mid-foot sprain was not indicated in the injury report. It is currently unclear if Green has already recovered from the injury.

This new development regarding Green has tempered the optimism surrounding Curry's return. These two have been Golden State's cornerstones over the past decade and a half — winning four championships in the process — and fans will now need to wait longer before this iconic pairing sees action on the court together again.

The Warriors enter Friday's contest with a 13-12 record and are seeking to secure their third straight win.
