Warriors vs. Blazers: Is Draymond Green Playing Tonight?

The Golden State Warriors did not have the services of Draymond Green on Wednesday as they suffered a disappointing 110-96 loss to the Miami Heat. The former Defensive Player of the Year sat out the game due to illness, which has cast some doubt on his status for the Warriors’ matchup against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.

The loss to Miami was Golden State’s second defeat in two nights after they fell to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday, 121-113. Green played 31 minutes against the Magic, registering 12 points, six rebounds, six assists and two blocks, but it wasn’t enough to help lift the Warriors over Orlando.

Is Draymond Green Playing Tonight?

It is important to note that Wednesday’s game against the Heat was the second night of a back-to-back set for the Warriors. It was also the sixth and final matchup in their extended six-game road trip.

Steph Curry, Jimmy Butler and Al Horford all sat out against Miami as well, while Jonathan Kuminga remained out due to a knee injury.

The Warriors will now be looking to bounce back on Friday against the Blazers. This will be their first game in Chase Center since Nov. 9, and they will be eager to take the court in front of their home fans.

As of writing, Green's status is probable to play. His illness does not seem like a significant concern, which means that, barring any unforeseen setbacks, the four-time All-Star should be back in the starting lineup for Friday's contest. The Warriors should announce Green's final status closer to tip-off.

It is worth noting that Curry and Horford are no longer on the injury report and will return after missing one game. Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield are both listed as probable.

Golden State enters Friday’s contest with a 9-8 standing. The game's result will also count against both teams’ NBA Cup standings. Both the Warriors and the Blazers are 1-1 in West Group C.
