When the Detroit Pistons went 0-for-November , they looked like one of the worst NBA teams in history. Thursday, the Washington Wizards proved they're just as bad.
Washington became the 15th team in NBA history to endure a winless month after they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers Thursday, 134-131. After winning back-to-back games against the Pistons and San Antonio Spurs in late January, the Wizards lost their last game of January. Then they lost every game in February.
This one was close. Washington went ahead in the final minute of regulation on a three-pointer by Jordan Poole, who had 34 points off the bench.

Then, after Marvin Bagley blocked LeBron James' layup attempt, the Lakers corralled the rebound and Austin Reaves tied it with 24 seconds left.

Then, in overtime, LeBron James blocked a Poole dunk that would have put the Wizards up five points.

The NBA went eight years without a winless month before the Pistons lost every game in November. Three months later, two teams went winless this February. The Portland Trail Blazers went 0-9 for the month as well. They came close to a win Feb. 8, when they lost in overtime to, who else, the Pistons.
Washington was a win away from avoiding NBA infamy. Now the Wizards and Pistons need one more win the rest of the way to avoid tying the 1972-72 Philadelphia 76ers for fewest wins in an 82-game season, with nine.
It's been a great season for terrible teams.
