Watch: Anthony Davis has first clutch moment with Mavericks

Anthony Davis had, perhaps, his best game as a Dallas Maverick on Wednesday night.

In a home matchup against the Atlanta Hawks, Davis scored 34 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked five shots. More importantly for the Mavericks, he iced the game late in the fourth quarter.

With 7.7 seconds left and the game tied 118-118, the Mavericks inbounded the ball to Davis. He quickly attacked the paint and hit a 10-foot floater, sealing a 120-118 win for Dallas.

Of course, Dallas acquired Davis in a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Lakers that involved guard Luka Doncic in February. Since then, the injury-riddled big man has struggled to meet expectations.

The 6-foot-10, 253-pounder has played in just six games for the Mavericks because of groin, thigh and abductor injuries. The 10-time All-Star staying healthy for the rest of the season would bode well for Dallas.

With five regular-season games remaining, Dallas is fighting for one of the last playoff spots in the Western Conference. If the postseason started Wednesday, the Mavericks (38-39) would have the No. 9 seed and start in the play-in tournament.

Dallas will aim to keep its playoff hopes alive in its next game on the road against the Los Angeles Clippers (43-32) on Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET.
