Less than 72 hours after his sensational block that some described as the "play of the year" or "the block of the decade," Anthony Edwards nearly pulled off a dunk that would have broken the internet.
With his undermanned Timberwolves trailing the Lakers in the first quarter, Edwards put on his cape and nearly posterized Anthony Davis with a ferocious dunk. As seen below, the former No.1 overall pick took flight and appeared to climb over Davis, who met him at the rim but couldn't block his shot.

Once the ball bounced off the rim, the Lakers started a fast break, much to the displeasure of Edwards, who felt he was fouled by Davis. Yet, many felt the attempted dunk was extra special since Edwards tried to dunk on Davis, one of the candidates to win Defensive Player of the Year.
In his post-game news conference, Edwards took issue with the Lakers shooting 16 more free throws than his Timberwolves in their 120-109 victory, via Mave Sports.
"It's tough every night when we don't get to the free throw line as much as the other team," Edwards admitted. "When one of their players [Davis] shoots more free throws than your entire team, it's tough to compete."

Since Karl Anthony-Towns went down with a torn meniscus, Edwards has played exceptionally well but his solo heroics haven't proven enough. With the loss Sunday, the Timberwolves dropped to the third seed for the first time in months, and risk falling to the fourth seed, where the Clippers lurk just two games behind them.
The Timberwolves have a tough stretch of road games coming up against the Clippers and Jazz before returning home to face top-tier teams such as the Nuggets and Cavaliers. They could potentially drop to the fifth seed if they fail to remain at least a .500 team to close out the season.
