Watch: Ben Simmons somehow air balls a layup

Something is wrong with Ben Simmons. His basketball abilities seemingly have completely left his body. His game looks broken. So broken that now he's even completely air-balling layups.

You have to understand the incredible lack of basketball skill it takes to air ball a layup. That's the kind of stuff that happens well before the game when a select group of VIP fans are invited onto the court to "shoot around". You normally see a few bricks and air balls in those situations, but even kids as early as elementary school can figure out how to make a layup.

An NBA player air balling a wide-open, uncontested layup, though? That's basically unheard of. You need to see it to believe it.

It's one thing to air ball a three-point shot. That happens at least once a game at the NBA level. It is what it is.

It's even not completely uncommon for a layup to roll around the rim a few times and rim out. Even wide-open layups get flushed around the rim a few times from time to time in the NBA.

But to completely miss the basket? That's so bad it's impressive.

It's almost jarring to remember that Simmons was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft and a three-time All-Star.

What happened to that player? Where is he?
